Therapy

Who do I work with?

  • People aged over 15 who are struggling with an eating disorder, disordered eating, and/or body image distress

What difficulties can I help you with?

  • All types of eating disorders including bulimia, anorexia, binge eating disorder, avoidant restrictive food intake disorder (ARFID), and difficult experiences with eating that might not fit in one particular box or label

  • We can discuss diagnosis if that would be helpful for you, but I will work with you in a personalised way that is solely focused on your personal relationship with food, your body, your identity, your culture, your life experiences, and your circumstances.

  • Eating difficulties oftentimes don't exist on their own, and it is common for people with eating disorders to also struggle with:

    • depression and anxiety

    • experiences of trauma and PTSD

    • bereavement and grief

    • obsessive-compulsive symptoms

    • relationship difficulties

    • perfectionism and people-pleasing

    • questions around identity (including gender, sexuality, and faith)

  • These are all areas we can explore together, if relevant for you.

  • I have particular interest and experience in working with people with ASC, ADHD, or traits of neurodivergence. I am well-versed in supporting people through the process of neurodivergence screening and onto the waitlist for diagnosis.

How do I work?

  • I'm trained in all three NICE-recommended approaches for the treatment of eating disorders:

    • MANTRA

    • Cognitive Behaviour Therapy Enhanced for Eating Disorders (CBT-E)

    • Specialist Supportive Clinical Management (SSCM)

  • I often integrate Compassion-Focused Therapy into my work with clients who struggle with self-criticism, perfectionism, and low self-esteem

  • Each therapy has its own unique style and focus, and we can talk about what each has to offer and how we can combine these therapies to best meet your needs

  • You can read a bit more about my therapy style, my qualifications, and me as a person on my 'about' page

  • In a nutshell, I hope to be a therapist who is down-to-earth, authentic, and real with you; warm, caring, and non-judgemental; blunt when needed, and able to laugh with you and cry with you.

What my
Clients Say

"Emma is an absolutely wonderful person who was always there to give truths, support, so much knowledge and also a reality check when needed (in the most heartfelt and sympathetic way). I will forever be grateful for the the progress I have made whilst under her care."

Fees

My fee is £80 per hour. 50 minutes of this will be our session time; 10 minutes of this will be time for me to send you over resources, help connect you with other services, and write up our session notes. I'm always happy to write letters of support (for example for universities, jobs, PIP, etc.) If you'd like, we can check in on Whatsapp occasionally between appointments. I am also happy to do joint sessions with loved ones.

Our sessions can be as regular or infrequent as you want them to be. I understand the difficulties of planning a schedule if you work shifts, or have children, and I'll work around you and your availability. I do not charge more for evenings or weekends and am often available during these times. Currently, I only work online.

I offer a free 20-minute consultation video call to get to know each other a bit. Please make an enquiry on the contact page so we can talk about how we could work together!
